What Really Works

As you know, I’ve been very busy managing an Urban Remedy store in California. I am loving this experience. We offer the highest quality products possible in the form of organic juices and prepared vegan food. People can just walk into the store and grab and go. What a boon to the health minded people here with a busy schedule.

It’s amazing to me that we offer juices and food already prepared that I spent years teaching others how to cook and enjoy. Highest accolades to Neka Pasquale, the founder and visionary behind Urban Remedy, for having the commitment to make food that is healing something we can all enjoy so easily.

As I work and interact with our customers I have the opportunity to see what really improves people’s health: fresh, High Nutrient Dense  juices and High Nutrient Dense, organic foods. And, again and again what stands out most is when someone does a juice cleanse. There is such a noticeable change! The skin is brighter, the eyes more clear and there is greater confidence in and appreciation for life. It is beautiful to see.

All the cleanses Urban Remedy offers consist of 6 juices. This is all the food for a day. The first juice is usually a green juice, then a lemonade made with turmeric, ginger, lemon and honey. Next comes another green juice with apple. Then a beet, carrot, orange juice of some kind, another green juice and an almond or cashew milk to end the day. People love these and are not hungry.

The photos in this blog and the recipe below are to encourage you to make a lemonade you can use as part of your cleanse. Turmeric is great for anti-inflammation, lemon is very alkalizing, ginger is a good digestive aid and honey or stevia are  delicious sweeteners.  Enjoy.

Lemonade Juice

1 or 2 lemons, fresh squeezed
1 inch piece of ginger
1 inch piece of fresh turmeric
1 3/4 cups purified water
whisper of powdered cardamom
whisper of cayenne pepper
honey or stevia to taste

Run ginger and fresh turmeric through juicer. Add the 1 and 3/4 cup water to juicer. Pour liquid into a large glass and add lemon juice, cardamom, cayenne and honey to taste.  Stir well and enjoy.
