Not to try to outdo the (in)famous “Quarter Pounder” offered by an equally (in)famous fast food chain, we’ve come across a smoothie recipe that takes smoothies to the next level. We’re calling it the One Pound Smoothie.
If you want more energy, clarity and a huge boost to your health, try this smoothie. It’s packed with dark leafy greens, a full pound in fact, hence the name. Dark leafy greens like kale, collards, spinach and chard are the high, high nutrient foods that support the body to thrive more than almost any other food group.
In terms of reversing chronic conditions and losing weight naturally, Dr. Michael Greger has been known to say, “Is there anything kale can’t do?”
Adding flax and chia seeds for their anti-inflammatory effects and fruit for their cancer preventing qualities and sweetness, it’s a real powerhouse. You can watch us make one here:
Give it a try and see if it doesn’t have an impact on your day. It’s amazing. My energy is high, high, high and at moments euphoric. Those are such clear signs the smoothie is giving my body what it needs to restore and regenerate.
We’re doing a 2 week cleanse splitting 2 of these smoothies each day. That’s a full pound of greens for each of us every day, plus we’re having a big salad with lots of dark greens and cruciferous vegetables, a whole avocado and using lemon juice as the dressing. We feel amazing!
If you want to learn more about restoring health and having much higher levels of energy and clarity, contact us in the “Comments” section below. It is our birthright to feel amazing!

The One Pound Smoothie (Serves 2)
16 ounces of dark leafy greens—kale, spinach, collards, arugula, parsley, chard or mixed baby greens—stuffed into a high-speed blender so it is ¾ full
2-3 very ripe bananas (the riper they are, the sweeter it is)
1 cup or more of fresh or frozen fruit: mango, pineapple, blueberries, cherries, berries or any sweet fruit (Add more frozen fruit to fill the blender to the top)
¼ cup flax or chia seed. (If you have a VitaMix you can add the flax whole, otherwise add ground flax.)
Stuff the greens into a high-speed blender with a 64 oz container. This will make it ¾ full. You may need to push really hard to get them all in. (If your blender container is less than 64 oz, you can make this in 2 batches.)
Add the fruit and push it all down.
Add the flax or chia seeds and enough water to go 3/4 of the way up the blender container, which will be the top of the greens. (Don’t add more or it can spill over when you open lid)
Blend on high for 60 seconds.
