We are born to live vital, healthy lives and we believe nutrition plays a big part in that. Something that's equally important though is cleansing. It's the other side of the coin.

Just like our car has to get rid of the exhaust created by its running, our bodies have to get rid of the metabolic waste created by its running. And there are toxins and pollutants that impact our health that we take in when we breathe, when we eat and when we clean our houses.

We don't hear much about the cleansing side of things because our bodies are designed to take care of that on their own. Not like the decisions we need to make about what we put in our mouths.

But, there are things we can do from time to time to support the cleansing process to go a little deeper. Kind of like a Spring cleaning that goes a little deeper and gets into areas we don't often deal with. Join us to hear more:

The recipe this week is a Cleansing Smoothie. Give it a try and see how you feel. We love it!

Cleansing Smoothie

  • 8 leaves of kale with stem removed
  • Large handful of cilantro
  • Large handful of arugul
  • ½ Jalapeno, seeded
  • 6 pitted Deglet Noor dates
  • 2-inch piece of ginger
  • 1 teaspoon flax
  • 1teaspoon chia seeds
  • 1 teaspoon hemp hearts
  • 3-inch piece of seaweed for iodine (kombu, wakame, dulse, etc.)
  • 1 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1 cup frozen mango
  • 1 cup frozen cherries
  • Filtered water

Place all ingredients in a high speed blender. Add enough filtered water so the blender is ¾ full of filtered water. Whir until smooth and creamy.
