Starchy Veggies are some of the most delicious, nutritious and satisfying foods in the world. But "carbs" have been getting a bad rap these days.
What's creating the confusion is that not all carbs are equal. That is, when the complex carbohydrates in whole foods get processed into flour, refined sugar and high fructose corn syrup, for example, they cause weight gain and chronic health conditions. This form of carb, processed carbs, we definitely want to stay away from.
Eating the complex carbs in whole foods like potato, sweet potato, Winter squash and whole grains, however, actually promotes weight loss and helps restore health. So don't be fooled by the idea that low carb is healthy. Be aware that it's the refined and processed form of carbohydrates that you want to avoid. Including plenty of starchy foods in their whole food form is one of the best things you can do for your health, weight and satisfaction.
